Clogau Gold 150th Anniversary Pen, 2007

Clogau Gold 150th Anniversary Pen, 2007

Clogau Welsh Gold, discovered in 1854, has been one of the world's most sought-after precious metals for over a century. The legendary gold is exclusively extracted from St. David's Gold Mine located in the Snowdonia Mountains in North Wales. The mine was initially opened for copper mining in 1842, and in 1854, while looking for copper, the then-director of the mine stumbled upon a vein of Clogau Gold. Since then, the mine has undergone mixed fortunes, and Clogau Gold has become increasingly rare.

The tradition of gold mining in the local community has persisted, with some of the miners being descendants of the original Victorian prospectors. The Royal Family has a long-standing association with Clogau Gold. The Queen, Prince Charles, and several other members of the royal family have wedding rings made from Clogau gold.

To celebrate 150 years of gold extraction from St. David's Gold Mine, Conway Stewart has launched the Clogau 150th Anniversary Pen. This sleek fountain pen is crafted out of precious resin and comes in a popular marble blue finish, with light and dark marbled blue shades mixed with shimmering pearlescent sky blue. The pen is adorned with five solid Clogau 18 carat gold bands, with the Welsh Dragon and Conway Stewart hallmarks engraved on the cap band, guaranteeing the purity of the Clogau gold. The barrel is laser engraved with the Clogau Gold logo and the Conway Stewart trademark logos and limited edition number.
