Clogau Welsh Gold, discovered in 1854, has been one of the world's most sought-after precious metals for over a century. The legendary gold is exclusively extracted from St. David's Gold Mine located in the Snowdonia Mountains in North Wales. The mine was initially opened for copper mining in 1842, and in 1854, while looking for copper, the then-director of the mine stumbled upon a vein of Clogau Gold. Since then, the mine has undergone mixed fortunes, and Clogau Gold has become increasingly rare.

The tradition of gold mining in the local community has persisted, with some of the miners being descendants of the original Victorian prospectors.
